چکیده

AlSat-1, the First Algerian National Satellite, and the first of five microsatellites in the Disaster Monitoring Constellation (DMC), was launched on the 28 November 2002 from Plesetsk. AlSat-1 was joined by SSTL built Microsatellites for Nigeria, the United Kingdom and Turkey with the second DMC launch on the 23 September 2003 and the fifth microsatellite for China was launched into the same orbit by the third DMC launch on the 27 October 2005. A team of eleven (11) Algerian engineers has been trained at Surrey through the AlSat-1 project with specializations in the following disciplines: System Engineering, ADCS, Power, RF, OBDH, Mechanical and Launch Interface, Earth Observation Payload, GPS, Operation, TTC and Propulsion. AlSat-1, the first space asset to the country provides indigenous national space capability, unique independent earth observation source and international cooperation opportunities. In a constellation with four other satellites, Algeria will have daily access to global images for disaster mitigation, national remote sensing applications, space commercial exploitation and international cooperation with both developed and developing countries. The paper will attempt to address Alsat-1 contribution in forest fires mapping within the country for the years 2003 – 2005. It has been shown that the large amount of data produced by the satellite has been of a great use because it has pointed out the vulnerable regions. Among the other areas where Alsat-1 has also contributed we can find the followings: land occupation cartography, agricultural statistics, drought and finally the migrating locust.

Forest fire is one of the important problems in Iran which is caused by different factors such as human and natural factors. One of these factors is climate conditions that can be created by heat wave and special circulation of atmospheric phenomena. Occurrence of forest fire in north of Iran have different impacts on environment such as destruction of natural. According to the position of Iran...

Localization Boyan algorithm to detect forest fires from MODIS sensor images

Of phenomena which much damage and irreparable import to forests and natural resources is the fire that each year, more than 100 fires occur in Iran and thousands of hectares of trees and plants eliminates. Given that fire risk is high in most parts of the world, full and continuous monitoring on this natural phenomenon, is essential. Use remote sensing is a way to identify and manage fire. Ahe...

A Data Mining Framework for Forest Fire Mapping

Forests are an important natural resource that support economic activity and play a significant role in regulating the climate and the carbon cycle, yet forest ecosystems are increasingly threatened by fires caused by a range of natural and anthropogenic factors. Mapping these fires, which can range in size from less than an acre to hundreds of thousands of acres, is an important task for suppo...

Data in support of environmental controls on the characteristics of mean number of forest fires and mean forest area burned (1987–2007) in China

Fire frequency and size are two important parameters describing fire characteristics. Exploring the spatial variation of fire characteristics and understanding the environmental controls are indispensable to fire prediction and sustainable forest landscape management. To illustrate the spatial variation of forest fire characteristics over China and to quantitatively determine the relative contr...
